Private tour to Konopiste chateau |
Konopiste, only one hour by car from Prague, is one of the most beautiful castles in the Czech Republic. It was founded around the year 1300, but received its neo-Gothic façade as late as in the 1890s from Archduke Franz Ferdinand d'Este, its last and best known owner, successor to the Austro-Hungarian throne, whose June 1914 assassination in Sarajevo set off the First World War.
On this tour your guide will pick up from your hotel and then drive you the one hour journey to the small town of Konopiste. On arrival we will climb the small hill to the castle itself where we will take a guided tour. Since Ferdinand d'Este was an obsessive hunter, Konopiste houses an over-the-top collection of dead animal trophies and an armoury of historical hunting weapons.
Konopiste is set in English-style wooded grounds, including lakes, gardens and statuary, giving us the perfect opportunity for a relaxing walk after the castle tour.
The tour lasts approximately 5 hours
Price for guide and driver: 225 euros
This price does not include entrance fees.
Please note that the chateau is closed on Mondays and from January to March.
